I can’t tell you how many times I have come across other Yumans regarding the ever so dreaded Summers in Yuma. I have been one to complain for years till this year. (We finally bought a boat) The heat can be unbearable (in my mind). Yesterday was a record high heat. It was 114 in Yuma. As I argued to a friend Garrick that it was too hot to do anything in the summer he said ” you must have lived in Yuma way too long, you never lived anywhere else have you?” I laughed and was curious as to why he would say that, so I said “No, why?” His answer was this ” Most people who say it’s too hot here have never lived anywhere. There is not just heat but there is very little to no humidity.” That changed my perspective on the Yuma Heat. The boat we just bought also made it way easier. I have a lot of long time friends that have moved away when they come back they want to “soak up the sun”. I love traveling and enjoy the different places I go to. I have yet to see any other place with beautiful sunsets as Yuma.
The best way to begin to enjoy your Summer sunset in Yuma, is to find a place comfortable enough for you to enjoy it. My favorite place is in the river. It can keep me cool as I get ready to view one of the most beautiful sights in Yuma. There are a couple of Parks that have water activities such as water fountains etc. Some Hotels have amazing pools such as the Q resort. Once you found your spot, keep track of the time. Right now the sunset time is about 7:40. What ever you do, DO NOT stare directly into the sun.
Make sure to bring a camera. Some of the best photographs I have captured have been the Arizona sunsets. I like to get out where there are no people or structures. One of them being the Imperial Sand Dunes but that is a different blog entry.
Enjoying a Summer sunset is the #997 on our Things to do in Yuma Arizona list
Don’t Forget to take lots of pictures.
