Come explore Kofa National Wildlife Refuge under the light of the full moon!

Experience the Sonoran Desert at night. At night the beautiful Yuma Desert comes alive!

The Kofa Wildlife staff will guide you as you hike about one and a half miles along the road to Horse Tanks. This free event will be a 2 hour guided hike, staff members and volunteers will share information about the refuge and the animals that come out after sunset. As the terrain is rocky and uneven, this hike is for intermediate to expert hikers only.

The hike begins at 7:00 pm. Sign-up at the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters as space is limited. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a jacket, a flashlight, water, and snacks.

To reach the start of the hike: Take Highway 95 north of Yuma and look for the small brown King Valley entrance sign near mile marker 76.  Turn right onto the dirt road and drive about 2.2 miles to marker 42 where we will begin our hike. Please park along King Valley Road, allowing enough room for other cars to pass. The drive time is roughly one hour from the east side of Yuma.
