A Chandler Arizona man lost his life in an off-road incident on Friday evening at 7:20.
Deputy Coroner Green said the 54 year old Michael Ryn was riding down hill at Gordon’s Well (One of the Southern Imperial Sand Dunes) He was in a 2009 Kawasaki ATV. Ryan was ejected from the ATV suffering fatal injuries. Green siad an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death Large crowds have already begun arriving at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation area to celebrate the long Thanksgiving Day Holidays. The Bureau of Land Management says the Thanksgiving Day Holiday is one of the biggest off-road Holiday weekend.

UPDATE
CHP reports that Ryan was traveling at an unsafe speed when he drove over a 30-foot high razorback and went airborne. A razorback is the peak of a sand dune slope that sharply drops off on the back side.
Ryan was thrown from the quad when it struck sand at the bottom of the dune and he received fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ryan was not wearing a helmet or using safety restraints. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor. The accident is still under investigation
